Jet ski rental in Mallorca: complete 2026 guide

Updated May 2026 Read 6 min Puerto Portals · Mallorca

Renting a jet ski is probably the best way to discover the south-west of Mallorca. In this guide we cover everything you need to know for 2026: how much it costs, whether you need a licence, where to set off from and how to book without hassle.

The two ways to rent a jet ski

Before looking at prices, it helps to understand that there are two very different options, and the key difference is the licence.

1. Guided tours (no licence)

You ride accompanied by a qualified instructor who goes with the group on their own jet ski. You drive yours, but you don't need any boating qualification. It's the ideal option if you've never ridden before, if you're on holiday, or if you simply want to enjoy it with no paperwork.

2. Self-drive rental (with a licence)

You take the jet ski on your own, with no instructor, for the time you book. Here you do need a boating licence. It's the option for those who already have experience and a licence and want total freedom.

🌶️

No licence? Not a problem. With a guided tour you ride your own jet ski with no qualification needed. The instructor takes care of everything.

Do I need a licence to ride a jet ski in Mallorca?

It depends on the option. For guided tours no licence is required: as you're accompanied by a qualified instructor, the regulations allow you to ride without a qualification. For self-drive rental a licence is required. Depending on how far you want to navigate, you'll need:

Jet ski jumping between cliffs at Portals Vells, Mallorca
Portals Vells, one of the stops on the route from Puerto Portals.

Where to set off from? Puerto Portals and the south-west

The south-west of Mallorca holds some of the island's best coves, and Puerto Portals (in Calvià) is one of the best starting points: a luxury marina from which, in just a few minutes, you reach turquoise waters, virgin coves and sea caves only visible from the water. From here, a typical route passes Palmanova, Magaluf, Sa Porrasa island, Cala Vinyes, Portals Vells and Cala del Mago.

Which jet ski will you ride?

At CHILLI we work with the Sea-Doo GTX PRO 130: 130 horsepower, an efficient and stable 4-stroke engine, built for two people. It's one of the best jet skis on the market for rental thanks to its balance of power, stability and ease of handling, whether it's your first time or you already have experience.
